Jan Kanty Pawluśkiewicz, Wojciech Marczewski, Wojciech Staroń and Jerzy Śladkowski to chair the jury.
It is our pleasure to present the members of the jury for 54th Krakow Film Festival.
The head of the jury of the international documentary film competition is the cameraman and director, Wojciech Staroń, the author of the award-winning documentary film Argentinian Lesson (Golden Horn in Kraków in 2011) and the author of photography in the film Papusza. He is accompanied by Marc Isaacs, who made over 10 author’s documentary films for BBC and Channel 4 and whose films won numerous awards at international film festivals, Pau Montagud, the founder and artistic director of Documentary Film Festival in Mexico City, Marat Sargsyan, Armenian editor, cameraman and director and Krzysztof Kwiatkowski, the journalist from the culture section in the weekly "Wprost" and the author of interviews with the greatest stars of the cinema.
The session of the music competition DocFilmMusic will be conducted under the guidance of Jan Kanty Pawluśkiewicz , one of the most well-known composer sof film and popular music in Poland, the author of songs performed by Marek Grechuta, Andrzej Zaucha and Grzegorz Turnau. He is supported by Dick Fontain, British filmmaker, the author of over forty documentary films dedicated mainly to stars and phenomena of popculture, and Peter Rippl, the author of music documentaries and scripts for television.
The president of the jury is Wojciech Marczewski, director and scriptwriter, known for films such as Nightmares, Shivers, Escape from the ‘Liberty’ Cinema. The lecturer of Lodz Film School, co-founder, vice-president and programme director of Wajda School Foundation. He is joined by Cinzia Spironello, the founder of Other Voices, the only Italian distribution company, dedicated to domestic and foreign short films, Giannalberto Bendazzi, the founding member of the Society for Animation Studies, for nine years a Board Member of ASIFA (International Animated Film Association), Katrine Kilgaard, managing director of Filmkontakt Nord and the manager of Nordisk Panorama – the largest venture by this organisation: annual festival and at the same time industry platform for the meetings between Nordic short and documentary film industry and Illia Gladshtein, the specialist in the field of preparing the programmes of film festivals, since 2009, the coordinator of short film competition at the International Film Festival Molodist in Kiev.
The president of the jury of the Polish competition is Jerzy Śladkowski, director and documentary filmmaker, author of about 40 films, including ones made in the farthest parts of the world, also a reporter and producer, Irena Strzałkowska, the deputy director of the Film Studio "Tor" for promotion and dissemination at home and abroad, the representative of Polish cinematography in the fund of the Council of Europe EURIMAGES and the expert of Polish Film Institute and Regional Audiovisual Initiative, Zbigniew Żmudzki, film producer, the president of the company Se-ma-for Film Production and Film Foundation Se-ma-for, Filip Dzierżawski, director and scriptwriter, the winner of last year’s Golden Hobby-Horse for his directing début Love, Piotr Lenar, cameraman, the author of the photography for the famous film by Jan Jakub Kolski, Johnnie Waterman (1993), the co-author of many Polish and German film productions, in 2010 he founded a film school MultiArt Academy in Kraków.
Four main juries will be also joined by the FIPRESCI jury, consisting of: Pierre-Simon Gutman (France), Tonci Valentic (Croatia), István Szathmáry, (Hungary), FICC jury, consisting of: Jan Jankowiak (Poland), Tea Gabidzashvili (Georgia), Tapesh Sharma (India). Also, the students of Krakow grant their own awards.
