Dearest! Bernhardson, Davies and Jones? How about Petrycki and Reggio? Sound like the perfect set for the middle of the week? Or would you combine the names even differently to form your DREAM_TEAM?

Here’s a little download on how to plan tomorrow’s Wednesday, the fourth day of the festival!

World premiere of the documentary “Alice On & Off”, dir. Isabela Tent (Kino Kijów, 19:45 + Q&A)

For 10 years, the film author observed the life of the film character who as a teenager gave birth to a child from her relationship with a much older man. She could see from up close the complex dynamics of this relationship and above all Alice’s desperate efforts to find her own way, a consequence of her traumatic childhood and premature maternity, full of uneasy choices. With time, the director became part of this highly dysfunctional family. The film is a story of subsequent disappearances of Alice – a sensitive girl and an artist fleeing from her demons.

After the screening, join us for a Q&A with the documentary’s creator, Isabela Tent Premiere of the film

“Only Day and Night”, directed by Grzegorz Brzozowski (ASP, 18:30 +Q&A)

In the pandemic, during the strict lockdown period, human contacts were severely limited. Online conversations became the most common way of communication. The director employed them to talk to people stuck alone at home, just like him. What were they afraid of? How were they doing? People of different ages, from different countries and with different stories spoke about loneliness and fear. The isolation made them open up more willingly in conversations and confide their most intimate experiences. New friendships were formed and important words were said.

Our program for this day will include two film screenings with audiodescription:

“I, Rosiński”, dir. Piotr Kielar (Kino Pod Baranami, 18:45+ Q&A)

Grzegorz Rosiński, one of the most renowned Polish comic strip creators and the author of drawings for the series ‘Thorgal’, has retired. But what does it mean for an artist to end his career? Rosiński keeps drawing and plans to leave the profession on his own rules only.

Jacek Petrycki Retrospective. “The Return of Agnieszka H.”, dir. Krystyna Krauze, Jacek Petrycki (Kino Agrafka, godz. 18:30 +Q&A)

The film is a light-hearted and, in many places, humorous story about the student years of Poland’s most famous director Agnieszka Holland, who studied at FAMU from 1966 to 1971, during the period of political breakthroughs. The artist actively participated in the events of the Prague Spring and the student protests against the so-called normalisation in Czechoslovakia.

Sound of music. Godfrey Reggio Retrospective. (Kino pod Wawelem, 21:00. Free)

Naqoyqatsi’ – Life as War, is the third and final part of the Qatsi Trilogy. Employing the most advanced computer techniques of the time, it is a dreary vision of the world completely dominated by technology.
