64th KFF To Open With A. Bartosiak’s “I Am the Creation of Fiction”

This is not a biographical film but a dynamic portrait of an eminent European artist captured in motion. Behind this enigmatic titular figure is none other than Andrzej Seweryn. Actor, director, manager, social activist, and in Arkadiusz Bartosiak’s film – above all – a man who refuses to rest on his laurels and continually seeks new challenges. Invited to compete in the National Competition, the documentary I Am the Creation of Fiction is going to open the 64th Krakow Film Festival. The gala and the world premiere with the participation of the film’s director and protagonist will take place on 26th May at 6:00 PM at the Kijów cinema.

How do you truly portray an artist who never stops? One who charges through life and through his art with the force of a tornado? I concluded that there is only one effective method – to let oneself be swept away by this force. To throw oneself into the vortex. I hope that’s exactly what our film isconfesses the director of the documentary Arkadiusz Bartosiak.

‘I have achieved everything I wanted in life,’ says the distinguished Polish actor Andrzej Seweryn, before taking us on a dynamic journey through the series of professional challenges he continues to tackle with youthful enthusiasm. This isn’t a biopic that summarises his artistic achievements – hundreds of outstanding film and theatrical roles, political activism, or his long-standing role as the director of the Polish Theatre in Warsaw. The actor remains at the peak of his career and never slows down for a moment. The camera becomes a companion to his daily activities, allowing us to witness first-hand his emotions and passion for work that emerge in real time.

It’s great, energetic cinema, with the camera very close to the protagonist, in various circumstances, showing what an extraordinary actor and a versatile person Seweryn is. Here, we witness a man in the prime of his life, full of passion and self-awareness. Dozens of hours of footage were used to create a fascinating 75-minutes with the Master, who is a flesh-and-blood characterKrzysztof Gierat, director of the Krakow Film Festival, justifies the choice.
