DOC LAB POLAND Day at Camerimage

A lecture by Paul Pauwels and panel session will take place on 18th November in Bydgoszcz.

 

DOC LAB POLAND is the most important Polish programme focusing on consultation and pitching aimed at professional documentary filmmakers. Krakow Film Festival is the strategic partner of the project.

The programme is divided into two parts:

 

• DOC LAB START – for projects at the development stage or during early stages of filming; it ends with pitching at DOCS TO START!
• DOC LAB GO – for projects at the editing stage or during the preparation of the first editor cut; it ends with a presentation at DOCS TO GO!

 

The long-range aim of the programme is to increase the opportunities of Polish documentaries in the world. DOC LAB POLAND focuses on the areas of co-production, promotion and distribution, and support of documentary projects (especially full-length films) which have a chance of succeeding in cinemas and creating a more friendly attitudes towards this kind of productions in Poland.

This year, in June, the most important session of the DOC LAB POLAND programme took place as part of the 55th Krakow Film Festival – about 350 meetings devoted to projects presented in the programme were held. In October, in Warsaw, the last consultation session was organized to discuss documentaries at the development stage. In January, application process for DOC LAB POLAND 2016 will be announced.

 

The last element of this year’s edition of DOC LAB POLAND is the meetings organized as part of Camerimage Film Festival in Bydgoszcz, on Wednesday, November 18. Paul Pauwels – the chairperson of the European Documentary Network, film producer, programme manager at Belgian teevision VRT, international expert and lecturer – will deliver an open lecture on the subject of “European documentary market – how to get there and stay there?” The lecture will be followed by a short presentation about DOC LAB POLAND and a discussion panel with participants of this year’s programme on the topic of “Development and pitching – do I really need them?”. The guest are: director Ewa Podgórska and producer Małgorzata Wabińska (project “Diagnosis”), Maria Krauss – the producer of the project “I Would Like to Tell You Everything,” Jacob Dammas the director and producer of the project “Olimpia” (formerly: “Mr Jan and His 40 Girls”), Katarzyna Trzaska, the director and producer of the project “Divine!” and Paulina Gawęcka, the director of the project “Ahead of Bill”. The meeting will be moderated by Katarzyna and Adam Ślesicki, directors of DOC LAB POLAND. DOC LAB POLAND DAY will take place in Cinema Orzeł, in MCK (Municipal Cultural Centre) in Bydgoszcz, at 12 Marcinkowskiego St., from 12.00 pm to 5.00 pm.

 

DOC LAB POLAND DAY – THE PROGRAMME:

• “European documentary market – how to get there and stay there?” – a seminar by Paul Pauwels, the chairperson of the European Documentary Network, film producer, programme manager, international expert and lecturer;
• “Development and pitching – do I really need them?” – a discussion panel with producers and directors participating in DOC LAB POLAND 2015;
• Presentation of the DOC LAB POLAND programme;
• Cocktail party.

 

DOC LAB POLAND is organized by the Władysław Ślesicki Film Foundation; the strategic partner is Krakow Film Festival.
