12 documentary projects have been chosen for Docs to go!
The selection of projects which will be shown at the third edition of Docs to go! has just ended. Docs to go! is a joint initiative of Polish Film Institute and Krakow Film Foundation. The presentation of selected films will take place on 29 May during 54th Krakow Film Festival.
Docs to go! is an initiative, the aim of which is to promote and present the most interesting Polish documentary films at the final editing/rough cut/post-production stage, whose premiere will take place within the coming months. During the pitching in Kraków, producers and directors of the selected projects will show fragments of the assembly edits of the films and will talk about the production to the distributors, representatives of television channels, programmers of film festivals and other experts and decision-making persons present at the meeting.
Twelve promising projects qualified for this year’s edition:
- AGFA 1939, by Michał Wnuk
- The Sound of Nature – the Nature of Sound, by Jacek P. Bławut
- Battle of Throne, by Kuba Maciejko
- A Life of a Butterly, by Piotr Bernaś
- Internal Ear, by Szymon Uliasz & Magdalena Gubała
- Before Dawn, by Monika Pawluczuk
At Docs to go! 6 projects will be presented, which will also take part in the DOK.Restart workshops with outstanding international producers, film marketing and promotion specialists and recognised editors:
- Czech Swan, by Aleksandra Terpińska
- Ethiopiques. The Revolf od the Soul, by Maciej Bochaniak
- Football Brothers, by Maciej Filipowicz
- K2. Baltoro Passage, by Eliza Kubarska
- Nusrat. The Last Prophet of Music, by Tomasz Wysokiński, Armand Urbaniak
- The Queen of Spades, by Agnieszka Zwiefka
After a public screening, each project will be consulted at individual negotiations with selected sales agents, distributors and programmers of the most important documentary film festivals. Previously, the projects were consulted by, among others, the representatives of the festivals DOK.Leipzig, Visions du Reel, CPH:DOX and the representatives of distribution companies Deckert Distribution, First Hand Films, Rise and Shine and Java Films.
The best project out of 12 films will be chosen for the final screening at DOK.Incubator at the festival DOK LEIPZIG in Germany.
It is worth emphasising that the films shown at the previous editions of Docs to go! were among the films which won awards and were presented at festivals around the world. Recently, "Domino Effect" by Eliza Niewiera and Piotr Rosołowski was given the Interreligious Prize of the Interreligious Jury at the international festival Visions du Réel. The record-breaking films, as far as screenings and awards abroad are concerned, are "Fuck for forest" by Michał Marczak, "When I am a Bird" by Monika Pawliczuk, "Mother 24/7" by Marcin Janosz Krawczyk, "The Art of Disappearing" by Bartek Konopka and Piotr Rosołowski, "Father and Son" by Paweł Łoziński/ "Father and Son On A Journey," "A Diary of A Journey" by Piotr Stasik or "Deep Love" by Jan P. Matuszyński. "The Return of Agnieszka H." by Krystyna Krauze and Jacek Petrycki was shown as a première at the 29th Warsaw Film Festival and were distributed in the cinemas in the Czech Republic. "Six Degrees" by Bartosz Dombrowski, "One Man Show" by Jakub Piątek, "Deep Love" by Jan P. Matuszyński and "Domino Effect" will be shown in the competitions at the 54th Krakow FF. Soon, the film by Zuzanna Solakiewicz, "15 Corners of the World" will have its festival première, and the following films wait to be completed: "Yula’s Dream" by Hanna Polak, "Brothers" by Wojciech Staroń, "Monk of the Sea" by Rafał Skalski.
