It was with regret we received the news of the death of Peter Liechti, an excellent Swiss documentary filmmaker and cinematographer. In 2005, we had the pleasure of hosting him in Krakow when a retrospective of his work was organised in frames of the KFF.
Peter Liechti was born in 1951 in St. Galen, Switzerland. His works have been shown at numerous film festivals, among others, in New York, Vienna, Berlin, Buenos Aires and Krakow. Among his most famous documentaries are “Namibia Crossings” (2004), “Sweeping Addis” (2007), “The Sound of Insects – Record of a Mummy” (2009) and “Father’s Garden – The Love of My Parents” (2013). He passed away on the 4th of April 2014 in Zurich.
