For the third time Poland is one of the exhibitors at MIFA animation market taking place in the French Annecy. This year Poland will mark a very special presence as a guest country not only in the festival programme, but also at the market.
MIFA, organized for the last 25 years is presently one of the leading events devoted to animation worldwide. Each year there are more than 2,500 professionals – producers, animators, buyers, distributors and representatives of festivals – coming to Annecy to share exchange experiences and search for new businnes partners. Last year representatives of 63 countries visited MIFA. This year’s programme is packed with a industry events such as meetings, conferences, lectures and pitchings.
The Polish Animations stand organized by Krakow Film Foundation with the support of PFI brings together the representatives of twelve animation studios – Artevision, Badi Badi, GS Animation, Human Ark, Studio Miniatur Filmowych, Se-Ma-For, WJTeam, SPOT Studio, Studia SPInka, Platige Image, Organge Tigerbells and NoLabel. The focal highlight of the Polish presence at MIFA will be Polish Animation in Focus presentation held as a part of Territory Focus. The event will bring a good opportunity for the foreign delegates to get acquinted with the Polish animated industry. Short presentations by Izabela Kiszka from PFI, Ole Wendorff from Platige Image and Wojtek Wawszczyk from Human Ark as well as the representatives of 12 studios present in Annecy will bring closer the features of the animated market in Poland. This year also Southern African and Russian industries will be presented in frame of Territory Foucus. The MIFA has started yesterday and last until Friday – 14th June.
Simultanuesly, a decent set of Polish animated films will be presented in the programme. This year as many as nine titles made it to the competitive sections starting off with the short film, through TV series ending on the music video competition. To honour the Polish year at the festival the organizers in collaboration with the Polish Institute in Paris and NINA prepared the vast panorama of Polish animated film. It is worth to mention that this year the Special Annecy Cristal was be handed over to Jerzy Kucia.
