On Sunday 26th June TVP Kultura will present Polish documentary films
On the opening day of the 53. Krakow Film Festival (held from May 26 to June 2 2013) the Polish television station TVP Kultura will broadcast a special Sunday programme devoted to Polish documentary films. Documentaries have enjoyed considerable popularity these days – many of them win awards at festivals in Poland and abroad, come out in cinemas more often they did over the last few years, and a greater number of feature-length documentaries have been produced as well. Starting at 5:25 PM, we and our guests will reflect on why this documentary phenomenon has occured in the modern world, how the past inspires the contemporary directors and how the intimate and poignant individual portrayals come to existence. For this week’s episode of Niedziela z… the host Maks Cegielski invites outstanding Polish documentary filmmakers: Lidia Duda, Maria Zmarz-Koczanowicz, Maciej Drygas, Paweł Kloc, Michał Marczak, Piotr Stasik and Tomasz Wolski.
There are more Festival-related broadcasts to come. Each day from May 27 to 30, TVP Kultura will be screening films presented at this year’s Kraków Film Festival. This includes, among others: Krzysztof Warlikowski – Nowy sen, Uwolnić motyla, Wypadek, Matka 24h, Tajemnica Góry Malakka and Campo Di Fiori. Reports covering the Festival’s events will also appear in Imformacje Kulturalne (broadcast on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8:00 PM)
