The call for documentary film projects for the Dragon Forum 2011 is still on. Search the drawer for your documentary dreams and put them on the road to development!
After five years, the Dragon Forum can be proud of the strong position it has gained in the European documentary film industry and the fact that it has become a recognizable brand. The organizers have managed to create a wide network of contacts between filmmakers and investors, and to help many people to develop their creative projects. The Dragon Forum has significantly contributed to the production of such films as: ‘Gugara’ by Andrzej Dybczak and Jacek Nagłowski, PL; ‘Robinsons of Mantisinaari’ by Victor Asliuk and Volha Dashuk, BY; ‘Rabbit a la Berlin’ by Bartek Konopka and Piotr Rosołowski, PL; ‘Mama umerla w subbotu na kuchnie’ by Maksim Vasyanovich and Natalka Dolgha, UA, ‘The Invisible Strings – The Talented Pusker Sisters’ by Agnes Sos, HU; ‘Home Alone’ by Ionut Carpatorea, RO; and ‘Themerson & Themerson’ by Wiktoria Szymańska, PL.
Based on those experiences and encouragement from the filmmakers, the organizers have decided to expand and deepen the Dragon Forum program. The ‘workshops‘ will be replaced with with an ‘Academy‘. The International Academy of the Document will continue the program of the documentary film project development in a more intensive way and by exploring the modern audiovisual technologies and multimedia platforms used to document reality. We will intensify The individual work of participants with masters and experts of the genre will be intensified, as well as the international scope of Dragon Forum. In addition to sessions in Warsaw and pitching in Krakow, special sessions in Budapest, Kiev and Moscow are planned.
The main course of the Dragon Forum 2010 – The International Academy of the Document includes: a script-writing session in Warsaw in January, a production session in Budapest in April and pitching in Krakow in the last week of May during the Krakow Film Festival. The course is meant for filmmakers with a developed concept of a documentary film intended for an international audience. A brief description of the project, an initial trailer, information about the filmmakers and the planned budget are required. The classes will be held in small groups hosted by the Polish and international experts. The lecture language will be English. The developed projects will be presented to commissioning editors from the largest European and worldwide television networks, who will come for the Dragon Forum in Krakow between 25th-29th May 2011.
