This story of passion and murder shocked the community of the state of Virginia in 1985. Two young lovers, Jens Söring, a son of a German diplomat, and Elizabeth Haysom from a wealthy American family received life sentences for murdering the girl’s parents. Their versions of events, however, were considerably different from the very beginning. Thirty years later the filmmakers decided to explore the entire case and the relationship between the convicts once again.
