The 246 km long Spartathlon commemorates a historical run from Athens to Sparta. Out of 400 ultramarathoners from across the world usually fewer than half make it to the finish line. The camera follows four participants (including the film director) revealing various factors that motivate them in this extreme venture. Regardless of whether they achieve their aims, the runners challenge their limitations and weaknesses.
