There are different rhytms in Gypsy music. Liviu Tipurity’s documentary puts two genres against each other: traditional folk music everyone knows and contemporary Gypsy pop called manele. On the example of two representatives of the new style, the director wants to show what musical fame is like in Romania, where cheap glitz, showing off your wealth and money at every moment is good manners. Although manele is derived from folk music, it turns out that it has no place for true musicians.
