A colonel assigns a special investigator, Mr Mahler, with an extremely difficult task. Will the man in a raincoat solve the case of both a criminal and political dimension? The mysterious master of deduction knows a lot and is extremely self-confident. Paul Philipp applies the convention of a thriller to reveal a painful piece of German history.

Specialising in commercials, he has directed many commercial ads, including international ones. He earned a degree in Cultural Studies from the University of Hildesheim and in Directing from the Film Academy Baden-Württemberg. He learnt about film production during his traineeships in Copenhagen and Hildesheim. In 2003, he participated in the Talent Campus in Berlin. The Peculiar Abilities of Mr Mahler is his film debut.
