More has changed in Europe within the last several thousand years, than we can imagine. Wetlands have been drained, rivers have been regulated, forests have been cut down or transformed destroying, at the same time, the home of many animal species. But there is a place where almost nothing has changed. Below the peak of Krywań, there is a forest, governed by pine trees and bears, that provides shelter from man. Thanks to the uncontrolled processes occurring in the ecosystem, the old Swiss stone pine forest is immortal.
