Behind the several-centuries-old walls in Staniątki near Krakow, there is the oldest Benedictine cloister in Poland. Its residents are cheerful old ladies who do not shy away from jokes, word play or mild sarcasm. Associated with the place for decades, they tell the viewer, without unnecessary sentiment, about their life at the cloister, the experience of being a nun as well as the passing time and the longing for their youth. The camera captures them during their everyday work and prayer because everything here happens according to its own rhythm, following the one-thousand-year-old tradition of “ora et labora”.
