People of the Wasteland
Germany, Syrian Arab Republic2018documentary21'Konkurs krótkometrażowy (2018)
We are in the midst of the war in Syria. Devastated houses, ravaged households and groups of people with guns followed by the digital camera of a nameless cinematographer. The first-person narration intensifies the experience of the film recording from the front by making it more acute, almost tangible, as danger is lurking just behind the corner. An enemy is mistaken for an ally, a shelter for a trap and each minute can be the last one. Experimental debut by Heba Khaled.
