The Stars of Stern

For a few years, the director has been filming the residents of his apartment building in Jerusalem. The multicultural character of the area inhabited by immigrants from across the world has recently started to change. Orthodox Jews, who have been settling here, have begun to impose their habits upon the neighbours. The director would like to stop these changes – but the only thing he may do is to record the disappearing world with his camera.

French-Israeli director, journalist and film critic. He was a student of the Film Faculty at the Tel Aviv University and then moved to Sorbonne to study Film and Literature. He has been awarded by the French Minister of Culture for his book about Israeli cinema. For many years, he worked on film sets as an assistant to producers, editors and directors of documentary films. In 1999, he decided to devote his career to film criticism and journalism and try his hand at teaching French. He started to work on his documentary "The Stars of Stern" in 2008.
