Standby Painter

In 2000, someone stole Monet’s “The Beach in Pourville” from the National Museum in Poznań by replacing it with a copy. The thief was a man “in love” with the painting. The reconstruction of the event reveals the multi-level play between the truth and falsification, which is also alluded to in the title. A standby painter is the person on a film set who makes all the necessary corrections as needed.
