"Hadwin’s Judgement" is a visually fascinating story about environment protection, obsession and myths of the north-west coast of the Pacific. The film, inspired by "The Golden Spruce" written by John Vaillant, describes the events that led to the destruction of a 300-year-old tree considered sacred by the indigenous Haida nation of Haida Gwaii. Grant Hadwin is a logging engineer who has lived and worked for many years in remote and ancient forests of British Columbia. But witnessing the devastation wrought by clear-cutting finally drives him to commit something that runs contrary to all he has come to value. "Hadwin's Judgement" is a combination of a drama and documentary that shows an emotional crusade against the destruction of the world’s last great temperate rainforest.
