Kabul, City in the Wind
The Netherlands, Afghanistan, Germany, Japan2018documentary85'Konkurs dokumentalny (2019)
Despite all odds, one of the most restless cities in the world tries to live a normal life. Its residents are presented in parallel plots: Abas, a driver whose bus often breaks, and two minor brothers who need to cope with their everyday problems on their own when their father is absent. The film shows continuous balancing on the edge, in omnipresent dust and the shadow of the never-ending war. Intimate portraits of the protagonists reflect what contemporary Afghans, who struggle to survive in a completely destroyed country, fear and long for.
