Stare Juchy in Mazury, Poland’s lake district, and Iceland have particularly much in common. Over 30 years ago, half of the inhabitants left the Polish village to look for better lives in the frosty island. But beautiful winter landscapes, economic stabilisation and successful personal lives cannot replace relations with the family members who stayed in Poland. Conversations over Skype serve as ersatz meetings. The director takes advantage of the modern form of contact to coalesce the two distant worlds. The Islandic reality starts to intermingle with the Polish one in an exceptionally spectacular way. IDFA 2018 Special Jury Award for Mid-Length Documentary.
