Attrition

France, United Kingdom2018fiction23'Konkurs krótkometrażowy (2019)

Historical cinema with a supernatural element. In 1915, in the trenches of World War I, a British unit is cut off from the rest of the army. A gas attack can start any time, but because of an error of a young private, Edwin, soldiers do not have gas masks. But Edwin has one unique ability. Every time he takes advantage of it, he loses a part of himself. Director Kelly Holmes utilises the clichés of the genre breaking them with magic elements to reflect upon sacrifice and humanity. The cast includes, among others, Jack Roth (known from the film “Bohemian Rhapsody” and the series “Brittania”) and Edward Hogg („Jupiter Ascending”, “Taboo”).
