The tradition of whale hunting still remains alive among the residents of the Siberian frontiers, where time seems to have stopped. They occupy a special place in local beliefs, although the Chukchi, the Eskimos or the Russians that live in Lorino nowadays treat these mammals on the verge of extinction as utility animals above all. The collective hunting ritual provides them with food and enables them to survive in difficult conditions. The film contemplates the daily life of the Chukchi Peninsula, which is part of nature, and reveals the most brutal aspects of the existence in this place forgotten by God and people.
