‘I’m dreaming of a white Christmas / Just like the ones I used to know’ – as once sang Bing Crosby, who made Irvin Belrin’s 1943 song immortal. In Annie St-Pierre’s film it comes back in the title, in one of the scenes and as a key to the patchwork family, maturation and belated Santa Claus. It is Christmas, 1983. Children are only children and they are being extremely mischievous. Adults cannot control everything in the holiday chaos. The father is waiting outside to take the kids over from the mother. He is alone. They are all together. There are lights and Christmas trees. A strange evening, it is just like in the past, but so much different.

She studied Film at Université du Quebec in Montreal. She directed “Migration amoureuse”, a French-Belgian coproduction awarded with the Pierre Perrault Best Documentary Hope Award, and “Fermières”, a feature film screened at the closure of the Montreal International Documentary Festival (RIDM). Her first short feature film “让-马克-瓦雷” has won the best French script award at Festival REGARD.
