My Son Locks Himself in the Bathroom
Poland2021fiction30'Konkurs polski (2021)
Love hides behind hostility and jokes, fury and disappointment are concealed behind silence, sadness fills a trillion of jars with tomato paste. All this replaces a painful but necessary conversation. In a modern villa, a mother and a son are playing a strange game of appearances. The woman wants her adult, 21-year-old son to move out, but she is unable to say it openly. She tries to stop her only child using other, sometimes quite absurd, methods. It is a family psychodrama and the vivisection of emotions related to an empty nest as seen not the child but the mother who will stay alone in a big house. And she is the last one to find out about it.
