In March 2002 members of the religious group Falun Gong, outlawed in China, took control of a state television station. They wanted to express their disapproval of persecution by the communist authorities. After their spectacular action repressions grew only worse. Daxiong, a well-known comic book artist, was among the people afflicted. Influenced by memories of the participants of those events, he created a graphic novel after he had been forced to emigrate. The film, which animates his drawings, evokes the atmosphere of the rebellion and its tragic consequences. It becomes an account of a collective trauma and a testimony to great courage.
