Pleistocene Park
USA2022documentary100'Docs+Science (2022)
There are many documentaries about the boundary between genius and madness, but this one is definitely among the funniest of them. Luke Tergis follows a bravado attempt to restart the primeval ecosystem of remote Siberia, a return to the state recorded in the fossils of Pleistocene. It is made by Sergiej Zimov, a geophysicist, who is assisted by Nikita, his pathologically optimistic son. In a concerted effort, they are trying to reverse climate trends applying the method of small-scale geoengineering. We cannot afford not to experiment, they say, infecting the viewers with their enthusiasm.
