Black Mambas is the first such all-female unit protecting rhinos and other animals from poachers in South Africa. The fearless rangers are tasked with patrolling the edges of the Kruger National Park day and night. This is not an easy job due to the extensive area of the reserve and several thousand poachers who hunt animals to feed their families. In addition, Black Mambas have to face work in an extremely masculinised environment where violence against women is on the rise. They cannot give up because their earnings are sometimes the only source of income for their families.
