Their music throws down the gauntlet to the Middle Eastern stereotypes related to creativity, gender and sexual orientation. ‘Slave to Sirens’ is the first metal band in this part of the world which is entirely made of women. It reflects the restless spirit of contemporary Lebanon and the transformation going on there. The protagonists are two guitar players, Lilas and Shery, determined and internally complicated young women who are trying to play music and love people in their own way. The director captures up close their musical struggles and emotional perturbations.
