Cesária Évora
Portugal2022documentary93'Międzynarodowy konkurs DocFilmMusic (2022)
In the mid-1990s, she became a singer recognized in different parts of the world. In Cape Verde, where she came from, she still enjoys the status of a queen. This is where the film director went after Cesária Évora’s death to find out what hid behind the image of a diva and the sadness of her songs. Answers can be found in the stories of those close to her and the archival materials, so far unknown. They portray a woman painfully treated by fate and an artist constantly looking for freedom. Her fight against prejudice paved the way for other women.
