A poignant picture of growing up in a country ravaged by war. Empty windows of houses, factory halls destroyed by artillery fire and dusty panoramas of the Donbass look disturbingly beautiful in the filmmakers’ lens but life among these lunar landscapes is painfully sad. Fourteen-year-old Nastya and her friends search the ruins for scrap metal that can be sold. Their meeting place and playground is the ubiquitous spoil tips - a symbol of the former glory of the mining region. Today, they bring to mind graves, just heaped up and increasingly filling the space in local cemeteries.
