Abraham

In a conservative society there is no space for otherness. Young Iranian filmmakers have boldly and consistently reminded the world for years, despite censorship and morality police, that otherness actually exists. It hides behind the closed door, far away from the gaze of informers and strict executors of societal norms. It tries to protect itself against the external world and find fulfilment. Dance, sing, take off its hijab. Look for its freedom. ‘Abraham’ is a short story of the police thriller genre that takes a tentative look at a certain crime. Not all the questions are uttered out loud, but the context is clear. Abraham disappears. Only a woman’s burnt clothes are left behind. Two policemen are looking for the boy and his religious father.
