Captive
Ukraine, France2023fiction15'Międzynarodowy konkurs krótkometrażowy (2024)
Russia. On the monitors of a strip nightclub, beautiful girls dance in front of an uninterested clientele. From the radio and television come recruitment announcements for a ‘special military operation’ and the propaganda to justify it. In the drawer of Savvy's young bodyguard lies a gun. Would he be able to use it to kill someone? In the name of what? Love? Propaganda? Economical in its use of words, mesmerising in its visual and musical layers, the film does not impose an unambiguous interpretation. It allows the viewer to follow the emotions and impressions, its pulsating energy, its vision, in which reality gets mixed up with fantasy and the prize can only be a girl’s kiss.
