The Gospel According to Ciretta
Italy2024documentary73'Międzynarodowy konkurs dokumentalny (2024)
The boy is like a character from Pasolini’s or Fellini’s films. His name is Ciretta and he lives in the streets of old Naples, primarily from theft and prostitution. He is also a street singer, jester and a faithful adherent of the local Virgin Mary cult. Following the boy, we get to know the colourful local community, which is dead tired defending itself against mass tourism, gentrification and Covid-19. Accompanied by "God’s simpleton", we visit places where plebeian religiousness merges with cheerfulness and human solidarity. Will they allow the community to survive when attacked by change from every side?
