Isaac Asimov, a Message to the Future
France2023documentary55'Docs+Science (2024)
Interstellar journeys, intelligent machines, new forms of civilization – Isaac Asimov predicted the entire future in the largest scales of time and space as well as in the most minute details. He foresaw the ethical consequences of probable events. This was the sci-fi literature created by Asimov. When he wrote his books, several hundred of them, such visions belonged to the sphere of fantasy. Today, thanks to science, many of them have become reality forcing us to grapple with, for example, artificial intelligence. Employing AI in a perverse manner, French director Mathias Théry asks questions about the relationship between science and fiction.
