Manual for a Divorce
Belgium2023fiction12'Międzynarodowy konkurs krótkometrażowy (2024)
Divorce is not as complicated as adults claim. It is enough to split everything in two equal parts and make sure that ex-partners live far away from each other. Then after six years of tearing your hair out, shedding tears and immersion in despair, you will be able to have a civil conversation. Even though Peter Ghesquiere’s film takes place in a hazy reality, it is not another gloomy story of trauma. A hint of mad, absurd humour, theatrical costumes and a childish narrative bring the story closer to Wes Anderson’s cinema than Ingmar Bergman’s psychological dramas.
