The Miracle

A talented animator, Ewa Borysewicz, enters the territory of live-action cinema to create a film experiment interpreting the story of Mary and Joseph in a perverse way. The life of a young man, who is a hedonist and sinner, is turned upside down when his wife becomes pregnant. The protagonist tries to escape, but it does not bring him any comfort. To the contrary, it complicates his life even more. He is not able to separate reality from drunken hallucinations coloured with biblical stories and folk songs. Or, maybe they are not fantasies? The script was based on the novel by Ignacy Karpowicz. The biblical message and language is enlaced in the poetics of absurd humour. An intriguing aesthetic form makes it possible to overcome the limitations of live-action cinema and unleash the artist’s creativity.
