Petr Zelenka (Czech Republic) – chairman
Film director, screenwriter and playwright born in 1967. He studied Screenwriting at the Film and Television School of the Academy of Performing Arts (FAMU) in Prague. He worked as a dramatist for the Barradov film studio and his first screenplays were made into films in 1990-1996 by the Czech Television. He made Mňága Happy-end (1996), a music documentary, but these were his feature films that brought him the greatest success becoming internationally famous cult movies of the turn of the century, such as Buttoners (1997), Loners (2000), Year of the Devil (2002) or The Stories of Usual Madness (2005).
Andy Markowitz (United Kingdom)
Co-founder and editorial director of MusicFilmWeb.com, the world’s biggest portal focusing on music documentaries including interviews, news, reviews, a film database and, to come soon, a video-on-demand service. He comes from the metropolitan area of Baltimore–Washington in the US. Markowitz is a former editor of the alternative weekly Baltimore City Paper and has also spent a few years in Prague as a freelance journalist. Currently, he lives in Sheffield, UK, with his wife and a cute Czech cat.
Jeroen Berkvens (The Netherlands)
Graduate of Film Directing at the Academy of Art and Design in Breda where he made his diploma film Let Me Have It All telling the story of Sly Slone, a soul musician. In his artistic work he often focuses on music, which is a recurrent theme in Skin Too Few – the Days of Nick Drake, Paradiso and Jimmy Rosenberg – the Father, the Son and Talent, a documentary awarded at the Krakow festival. His pictures have been screened and awarded at the most important film festivals. Occasionally, he works as a film producer and has extensive experience in teaching as he has lectured at his home university and held numerous workshops and training events. Since 2010 he has been a tutor of the Documentary Film Directing Programme at the Netherlands Film Academy in Amsterdam.

Andrzej Jakimowski (Poland) – chairman
Film director, screenwriter and producer born in 1963 in Warsaw. He holds a degree in Philosophy from Warsaw University and in Film Directing from the University of Silesia’s Krzysztof Kieslowski Radio and Television Department in Katowice. His achievements include short films, documentaries and full-length features which have been screened and awarded across the world. Squint Your Eyes (2002) won the main prize at the film festival in San Franciso and the Eagle Award for the best film and directing; Tricks (2007) was awarded for the best film in the section of Giornate degli Autori at the festival in Venice and won the Golden Lions for the best film at the festival in Gdynia. His most recent picture Imagine (2012) was awarded for the best directing at the Warsaw Film Festival.
Maike Mia Höhne (Germany)
Film director and curator of the Berlinale Shorts section at the International Film Festival in Berlin. She studied Visual Communication in Hamburg and Havana. She has worked as a film director in Buenos Aires, Paris and Brussels. Her shorts are distributed by the Arsenal Institute for Film and Video Art and the Short Film Studio in Hamburg. She is active in various film areas. Currently, she is working on a series about the experimental and left-wing cinema and about to complete her feature film. Hohne has two children and lives in Hamburg.
Igor Kovaliov (Russia)
Film director, animator and designer born in 1954 in Kiev. He is the founder of Moscow’s legendary Pilot School of Animation, a forming place for talented directors hired by, among others, Klasky Csupo, a well-known Hollywood production studio where Kovalyov started work in 1991. He co-directed the first feature film made in the studio, The Rugrats Movie. His animations have been screened and awarded across the world. He has also worked on the Emmy-nominated television series Aahhh!!! Real Monsters, episodes to the series Rugrats and Duckman as well as commercial and Internet films.
Sourav Sarangi (India)
Director, screenwriter, editor and producer. As a graduate of the Presidency College in Calcultta he went on to study Editing at the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune. He debuted in 2007 with Tusu Katha, which was presented at many international festivals. Since his debut he has been working on both documentary and feature films. A former programming director of private television stations in India, he teaches at a number of film schools. His documentaries, including Bilal (2008), Bhangon (2006) and Thirst of God (1997), have been screened and awarded across the world. His latest picture Char… the No Man’s Island features in KFF’s section The World Stories.
Dorota Masłowska (Poland)
Author, playwright and columnist. She was born in 1983 in Wejherowo. She studied Psychology at Gdańsk University and Cultural Studies at Warsaw University. In 2002 she published her controversial debut White and Red, which became a best-seller and brought her the Polityka Passport Award and a nomination to the Nike Literary Award. She received the Nike Award in 2006 for her next book, The Queen’s Peacock. She has written two plays (A Couple of Poor, Polish-Speaking Romanians and Między nami dobrze jest) as well as many features and reviews.

Sergei Dvortsevoy (Russia) – chairman
Film director. He was born in 1962 in Chimkent, Kazakhstan. He graduated from the aviation academy in Krivoy Rog, Ukraine, the radio engineering department in the Novosibirsk Electrotechnical Institute and a higher course for film directors and screenwriters in the film school in Moscow. For nine years he worked in Kazakhstan for the Aeroflot airlines as a radioengineer. He has made four documentaries, two of which: Paradise (1995) and Bread Day (1998) have been awarded with The Golden Dragon at the festival in Krakow. His first feature film Tulpan (2008) was shown around the world and won the most prestigious film festivals.
Veton Nurkollari (Kosovo)
Co-founder and program director of Kosovo’s biggest film festival of documentaries and short films DokuFest, held since 2002. He is the initiator and curator of the annual exhibition of documentary photography DokuPhoto, which takes place at the time of the festival. He is a member of the advisory committee at the Balkan Documentary Center, located in Sofia, and a member of the selection committee at the Cinema Eye Honors awards, given in New York to the non-fiction films. He is also engaged in the promotion of the documentaries in the rural areas in Kosovo through the project "Cinema at Your Door". He also teaches documentary directing at universities.
David Fisher (Israel)
One of the most famous Israeli documentary makers. He is a director and a producer, a mentor for the young, up and coming filmmakers. In the years 1999-2008 he was the CEO of the New Israeli Foundation for Cinema and TV. Then initiated and developed the "Greenhouse", aimed at supporting the development of creative documentary filmmakers from the Mediterranean region, as well as promoting the Israeli documentaries in the international arena. He has directed several films, including family documentary trilogy, which consists of: Love Inventory, Mostar Round-Trip and the Six Million and One – all of them multiple award winners, shown around the world at film festivals
and in regular distribution.
Jerzy Zieliński (Poland)
Cinematographer. He was born in 1950 in Szczecin. He began his career in Poland in the ‘70s. He collaborated with Filip Bajon (Aria for an Athlete) and Wojciech Marczewski (Shivers). In the ‘80s, he went abroad, where he shot dozens of feature films, documentaries and television series. He has worked with Agnieszka Holland (Washington Square, The Third Miracle), Pat O’Connor (Cal). He has won many awards, including a cinematography award for The Primer (dir. W. Wiszniewski, 1976), at the Krakow Film Festival (1981). He is a member of the American Academy, American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) and the chairman of the Polish Society of Cinematographers.
Marion Döring (Germany)
Director of the European Film Academy. She studied languages at the University of Mainz, worked as a journalist. She is engaged in the work of The European Film Academy from the beginning of its existence (1988). She became the Academy director in 1996 and since 2004 has been engaged in the European Film Awards event, beginning in 2006 she has been the Managing Director of the EFA Productions gGmbH, the company co-organizing – together with the Academy – European Film Awards.

Adam Sikora – chairman
Cinematographer, director, photographer and painter. Born in Mikołów, Poland in 1960. He graduated from the Faculty of Cinematography at the Film School in Lodz. He shot dozens of feature films (including Four Nights with Anna, Essential Killing – both directed by Jerzy Skolimowski, The Mill and the Cross, dir. Lech Majewski), documentaries and television series. He is the author of award-winning documentaries including Bluesman – a ballad about Janek "Kyks" Skrzek (1999), Corpus Christi (2005). He also realized Television Theatre, and cultural programs for TVP, Polish Television. In 2012 he received the Czech Lion award for his cinematography in the film In the Shadow (dir. David Ondříček). He is a member of the Polish Society of Cinematographers.
Jacek Hugo-Bader
Journalist and author of numerous reports, since 1990 he has been involved with the daily Gazeta Wyborcza. He loves Russia and former Soviet Union countries. He has travelled by bike across Central Asia, the Gobi Desert, China and Tibet, and he sailed Lake Baikal in a canoe. In the winter of 2007 he traveled alone by car to Vladivostok. His reports on this expedition were published in the collection White Fever: A Journey to the Frozen Heart of Syberia. He was also a nominee for the "NIKE" award for the books Among the Weeds In the Vale of Paradise and Kolyma Journals – reports from his journey to the most terrifying island in the Gulag Archipelago. He has twice won the Grand Press Award in the category of reporting, three times the grand prize of the Association of Polish Journalists. He ran several classic and skiing marathons.
Agnieszka Traczewska
The award-winning producer of documentaries and television programs. In 1998 she founded the production company Studio Largo, in which she has created many great movies. She mainly works with Maria Zmarz-Koczanowicz (including Gdansk Station, Vera Gran, Ordinary March), but also works with other well-known documentary makers and producers. In the program of this year’s festival we will see her latest production Milosz (directed by Catherine Gondek).
Ryszard Jaźwiński
Radio journalist, moderator of meetings with filmmakers, and recently even a DJ at many film festivals in the country and abroad. He studied journalism at the University of Warsaw, and soon after, in 1991, he joined the Polish Radio Program III. Since 1997 he has been the host of an original radio show "Trójkowo, film", three times nominated for the prestigious Polish Film Institute award and the winner in 2010. Author of a number of interviews with film stars and authorities, including the daily "Cool video …". He is the author of the television show "Hot Doc" at Planete +, devoted to documentaries. He is still loyal to his interest in film – he spends much of his life at the cinema.
Marek Skrobecki
Animated film director born in 1951. He is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts and the Film School (Animated Film Directing) in Łódź. He debuted with The Episode (1988). Skrobecki employs traditional wax animation, e.g. in D.I.M. (1992), Ichtys (2005), Danny Boy (2010). His pictures have been screened and awarded at many film festivals. He has also worked on Oscar-winning Peter and the Wolf (directed by Suzie Templeton). Along with animations, he has developed television opening credits, commercials and music videos for the band Agressiva 69. He collaborates with the Se-ma-for film studio in Łódź.
