The Foundation was appreciated for promoting Polish documentary films abroad. These activities are conducted primarily within the frames of the project POLISH DOCS, operating since 2007 and supported by Polish Film Institute. The Foundation carries out its tasks by organising stands and events promoting Polish documentary films at film festivals and film markets abroad, among others, at Sunny Side of the Doc, IDFA, Cinema du Reel, Hot Docs, Jihlava IDFF, DokLeipzg; organising screenings of Polish documentary films at home and abroad; organising workshops, lectures, discussion panels dealing with training. The Foundation also helps producers and film-makers to establish contacts with commissioning editors from European television channels and supports their participation in film and pitching markets. Since 2015, the Foundation publishes “Focus on Poland,” an English-language magazine dedicated to the latest Polish documentary, short and animated films. The magazine is addressed to foreign producers, distributors, sales agents, film-makers and other professionals involved in film promotion. It supplements the projects POLISH DOCS, POLISH SHORTS and POLISH ANIMATIONS, run by the Foundation.

The Polish Film Institute Awards are the only Polish awards granted for achievements in popularising and promoting the art of film. This year’s 9th edition will end with a festive award ceremony at the 41st Gdynia Film Festival (19-24 September 2016).

Krakow Film Foundation is already the winner of two Polish Film Institute Awards, which it received in 2008 and in 2010.
