Prof. Maria Kornatowska – film critic, author, lecturer, jury member at Krakow Film Festival – has passed away.
Professor Maria Kornatowska has passed away today in Lodz. She was an exquisite film critic, essayist, lecturer at the Lodz Film School. Her texts were published in the film magazines: Kino, Film, Kwartalnik Filmowy and Tygodnik Powszechny. She was the author of acclaimed books about cinema, including "Fellini" – Federico Fellini’s legendary monograph, "Filmy o milosci," "Monica Vitti", "Eros i film", "Wodzireje i amatorzy," "Mafia i pieniądze" – an interview with Agnieszka Holland. She was the laureate of Boleslaw Michalek Award (2003) and the Polish Film Institute Award (2009).
We had a great pleasure to host Professor Kornatowska at Krakow Film Festival many times. In 2008 and in 2010 she was a member of the FIPRESCI jury.
