We are slowly approaching the 50th birthday anniversary. 2010 is a jubilee year for the Krakow Film Festival. During these 50 year many thing have changed, such as the formula of the festival, its guests and the momentum… Throughout the next year, we will try to bring you closer to the most interesting fragments of our 50-year history. But as for now, trying to fulfill the expectations of the film professionals and the audience, as well as adapting to the international standards, we are introducing changes in the regulations of the 50th KFF. These modifications aim at specifying the festival’s formula, and thus at strengthening its position among most important film events presenting short and documentary films. The most important changes are mentioned below, while the full text of the new regulations can be downloaded below.
Novelties and changes in a nutshell:
** The formula of the full-length documentaries have been expanded: apart form full-length, also shorter documentaries, ranging from 30 to 60 minutes, will be presented. This means introducing two equivalent awards: Golden Horns for director of the best film shorter than 60 minutes and for director of the best film longer than 60 minutes. There will also be two Silver Horn awards of equal rank, given for special artistic value. Thus, the competition will receive a new name: international documentary films competition.
** The length of documentary films accepted into the international short film competition is also changed. In 2010, documentaries, animations and short feature films 30-minute-long or less can be submitted to the festival, which means that documentaries longer than 30 minutes will not be taken into account while selecting the films for the competition. Such documentaries can be submitted to the international documentary films competition.
** The regulations of the national competition are unchanged. Accepted films include:
** The Polish premiere requirement applies only to the international documentary films competition. In other ones, Polish premiere is not required, though priority is given to the films which have not been shown in
** Only films completed after 1st January 2009 are eligible for the contests.
