Carlotta's Face

Seldom do science and art reach such a harmonious synthesis as in "Carlotta’s Face". It was possible thanks to the creators of this exceptional documentary featuring Valentin Riedl, who is a neuroscientist and a physician, and Frédéric Schuld, an artist and an animator. Together, they show the internal world of a woman suffering from prosopagnosia, a perception disorder characterised by the inability to recognize faces. "This woman is wearing my dress, so she has to be me", says Carlotta who expresses the conditions of her soul through art. Riedl accompanied her for three years to be able to create this extraordinary film together with Schuld.

He studied medicine in Germany, France and Poland. In 2009 he defended his PhD in Medical Sciences at Technische Universität München (TUM) and in 2012 in Neurology of Systemic Diseases at Ludwig-Maximilians Universität (LMU). For him, filmmaking is as a way to leave the world of scientific data to enter the zone where everything is possible. Today, he is trying to combine two disciplines, science and art, adopting a unique way of storytelling.
