The pre-premiere screening of “The Virgin, the Copts and Me”. Krakow Film Foundation distributes.
Documentary comedy "The Virgin, the Copts and Me" directed by Namir Abdel Meesseh will hit Polish art-house cinemas on Friday, 16th November. Thie pre-premiere screening will take place on Monday, 22nd October, at Kino Pod Baranami in Krakow.
Namir is a young French filmmaker born in a family of Egyptian Copts. Although sceptical about miracles, he decides to go to Egypt to make a film about Virgin Mary’s revelations, as commissioned by the French television. It will also be a return, important for him, to the country of his ancestors and the sources of his religion, as well as an opportunity to meet his family. However, when he arrives, things get so complicated that Namir will have to make a completely different film than the one he originally intended.
The film is a debut and was well received at Berlinale, Cannes Film Festival, Doha Tribeca Film Festival and Vision du Réel, gaining several audience awards.
The film had Polish premiere at 52nd Krakow Film Festival. Krakow Film Foundation deals with the distribution in Poland.
