We say goodbye to one of the most important people in Polish cinema.
Włodzimierz Niderhaus, one of the most famous and highly esteemed film producers, a long-lasting director of Documentary and Feature Film Studios (WFDiF), passed away at the age of 75. He initiated and produced awarded feature and documentary films including: “The Eccentrics: On the Sunny Side of the Street”, “Little Rose”, “Rose”, “General Nil”, “The Lure”, “The Collector”. In his professional career he was taking a special care of young filmmakers while producing successful film debuts.
He was a member of the Krakow Film Foundation Programme Council. On multiple occasions he was a guest of the Krakow Film Festival. Last year we begun the celebration of the 70th anniversary of WFDiF with the Voo Voo and Maciej Maleńczuk concert. It’s been 30 years this year since he became its director.
We will bid him farewell with the film “Guczo. Notes on Life” by Maria Zmarz-Koczanowicz. The last one he produced. The film will be presented in the national competition of the 60th Krakow Film Festival, which this year takes place online. It is devastating that Włodzimierz Niderhaus will never visit us again nor show his support with a good word or an unwaveringly firm decision – Krzysztof Gierat remembers the producer.
